Request for Funding for Classroom Maker Space Materials

Rich Schlanderer

Request for support in funding materials for our Makerspace program at Creekside Intermediate. This initiative will provide students with opportunities to explore, create, and develop critical skills such as problem-solving, collaboration, and creativity through hands-on, project-based learning.

Dear Educational Foundation of Dexter Committee,

I request your support in funding materials for our Makerspace program at Creekside Intermediate that the entire student body will use for our FLEX time. This initiative will provide students with opportunities to explore, create, and develop critical skills such as problem-solving, collaboration, and creativity through hands-on, project-based learning.

As teachers, we are continually seeking ways to engage our students in meaningful learning experiences that inspire curiosity and foster innovation. Ensuring we have a Makerspace that is well stocked will allow students to engage with a variety of materials and tools that encourage exploration and connections to their learning, as well as art and design. With the right resources, students will be able to bring their ideas to life, whether by building three-dimensionally, coding, or experimenting with paint and clay.

Objectives of the Maker Space Program:
Foster Creativity and Innovation: The Makerspace will provide students with the freedom to experiment and prototype their ideas.

Enhance Problem-Solving Skills:
Students will engage in hands-on projects that challenge them to think critically and develop solutions.

Promote Collaborative Learning:
The space will facilitate teamwork as students work together on projects, share ideas, and learn from one another.

Encourage STEM Exploration:
Through the use of materials that support engineering, electronics, and design, students will be introduced to fundamental STEM concepts in a fun and engaging way.

Develop Practical Life Skills:
By working with a variety of tools and materials, students will gain confidence in their abilities and develop valuable skills that extend beyond the classroom.

These materials will provide a foundation for students to engage in projects that align with our objective while allowing them the flexibility to pursue their individual interests and passions.

Conclusion:
I believe this Makerspace will serve as a catalyst for learning, offering students new and exciting ways to engage with STEM while building essential life skills. With your generous support, we can create an environment where students are empowered to think creatively, explore their curiosities, and discover the joy of learning through hands-on experiences.

Thank you for considering this request. I would be honored to partner with the Educational Foundation of Dexter to bring this vision to life and make a lasting impact on our students’ education.
